Green Steps is looking for the next crop of sustainability leaders - is it you?

Apply for one of 25 places in the award-winning Green Steps sustainability leadership program. You’ll gain the skills, tools and confidence to become an effective global leader and drive change towards a more sustainable future.

Monash Sustainable Development Institute offers this program free of charge to Monash students across all faculties and disciplines.

We’re looking for participants with an interest in sustainability and creating change in an organisational context. We select students with a persity of skills and career aspirations because we believe that for the world to be sustainable we need change agents working in all types of organisations and industries. The program is especially designed for those who:

  • Have a passion for the environment, social justice and sustainability regardless of whether they have experience or are studying in this field
  • Are committed to furthering their skills in sustainability and leadership
  • Would like to gain hands-on experience by working on a real consultancy project
  • Want to be part of a growing global network of sustainability change agents

Green Steps is open to all current Monash University students however preference is given to students in their final years of study. The program is run once a year at both Monash University (Clayton) and Monash University Malaysia.

How to apply

First join the Take One Step challenge and make a personal commitment to live more sustainably.

Then apply for Green Steps – include your resume and a 60- to 90-second video presenting three actions you’d take to implement your ‘step’ or pledge across the University.

Applications close at midnight on Monday 3 September.

About the program

Green Steps offers Monash students 4.5 days of face-to-face sustainability training. You’ll also have a chance to work on a consultancy project with Monash University’s Office of Environment and Sustainability.

Training will be held at the Clayton campus on:

  • Monday 24 September, 9am5pm
  • Tuesday 25 September, 9am5pm
  • Thursday 27 September, 9am5pm
  • Friday 28 September, 9am1pm
  • Saturday 6 October, 9am5pm
