MSDI business student named 2018 Aim2Flourish winner for Sustainable Development Goal #7

Monash business student Shahzad Billimoria has been honoured as a winning author with a story submitted to Aim2Flourish about Pollinate Energy.

This recognition is one of the 17 Flourish Prizes awarded this year, celebrating progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and business’ role in achieving them.

AIM2Flourish is the world’s first higher-education curriculum, story platform, and prize for the 17 SDGs. AIM2Flourish publish stories about business innovations from companies that are profitable and positive (including B Corps), that help achieve one or more of the SDGs, such as ending poverty and ensuring peace and justice.

The 17 winning stories for 2018 come from 16 schools across nine countries and represent positive and profitable business innovations across the globe. Shahzad's story about Pollinate Energy addresses Sustainable Development Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy.

A social business, Pollinate Energy sells essential products to people living in India's urban slums via a distribution network of local door-to-door salespeople. Products include solar-powered lights, water filters and clean cook stoves.

The story was part of Shahzad's assessment requirement for 'Sustainable Practice and Organisations', a unit delivered by MSDI for the Monash Business School, which teaches students about making a positive impact through business.

A distinguished jury selected the 17 Flourish Prize winners, one for each Goal, from 504 positive business innovation stories published on AIM2Flourish.com in 2017.
