Monash Talent works with employers seeking to hire graduates, which generally means candidates 0-3 years after graduation. Therefore our jobs are usually open to Monash University (or Monash Professional Year) graduates who have successfully completed their course of study within the previous three years. Some jobs may require 1-2 years experience in a relevant field.
Students registering with Monash Talent can generally start considering jobs when they are within 6 months of completing their degree.
Experience you’ve gained through a previous contract can be helpful, but it must align with the new opportunity you’re applying for. In other situations, where the employer’s requirements are different, your previous experience might not improve your ranking.
We’ve all heard of graduate level roles that require experience. This is your chance to build that experience before going for those roles or graduate programs. Also, unlike most internships, it’s paid employment. Short-term positions are an opportunity to try out different roles and organisations and identify your true career direction. Lastly, if you’re planning to go travelling, they’re great to set yourself up with experience so you aren’t behind the eight ball when you get back.
For temporary/contractor roles a pay rate is applied appropriate to the level of the role and in line with the relevant award. We also make level and pay recommendations for roles hired directly by the employer, so they are in line with the market.
