China's highest academic honour

China's highest academic honour

30 November 2017

Professor Aibing Yu

Professor Yu is in good company with other foreign experts elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) that same year including tech giant Bill Gates.

By the time he joined Monash in 2014, Professor Yu was already one of the most influential engineers in Australia, a specialist in particle/powder technology and process engineering.

But the lifelong honour awarded by the CAE was also recognition of Professor Yu’s stalwart leadership of the Monash Suzhou campus – a joint venture with Southeast University which offers PhD programs in IT and engineering. After months of negotiations and established in 2012, Monash continues to be the only Australian university approved by the Chinese Government to operate a postgraduate research school in China.
