Major solar rollout
The installation of the 160kWp array marks the start of a major solar energy rollout across Clayton campus over the next two years.
Located on top of the Engineering and Hargrave-Andrew Library buildings, the technology transforms Clayton campus into a ‘living laboratory’ and for the first time, has a direct impact on research.
A portion of the array is used by researchers to build a micro-grid system to model and assess the performance of energy network systems, while 10kWp of the system's output is used to power the engineering lab.
The rollout affirms the University’s goal of generating renewable energy and reducing demand for grid electricity.
