Supervisor Masterclasses (PBA Approved)
All psychologists applying to become Board-approved supervisors must have successfully completed a Board-approved training program in psychology supervision. Board-approved supervisors need to complete a minimum of one master class every five years to update their knowledge and skills. Requirements for supervisors can be found here.
Monash University runs at least one day-long Master Class each year (approved by the Psychology Board of Australia) designed to advance knowledge and skills of clinical supervisors.

2023 Masterclasses
Ethical Practice & Technological Issues in Supervision:
A Psychology Board of Australia Approved Masterclass
Monday 25th September, 2023
This masterclass will focus on the key aspects of ethical practice and technological issues involved in providing supervision to provisionally registered and registered psychologists in a range of contexts. Topics to be covered include: Boundaries & self disclosure in the supervision relationship, competence and self care issues in supervisees, and record keeping for supervisors.
Issues related to technology use in supervision will also be considered including social media, supervision via video conference, privacy/confidentiality in technologically mediated environments, and consideration of emergent technologies such as artificial intelligence. The masterclass will involve interactive activities and case-based discussion. This Masterclass will reference the existing APS Code of Ethics, and with an eye to the future, refer to the draft AHPRA Code of Conduct as applicable.

There is no charge for supervisors currently providing placements to Monash University Psychology students. There is a charge of $350 for Non Monash supervisors. Payment upon registration.
Facilitators
Andrew Brown Andrew is a Lecturer and Professional Practice Consultant at Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Educational and Developmental College and a Board approved supervisor. Andrew is an experienced counsellor currently providing 5+1 Internship supervision, and prior to commencing at Monash University worked as a student counsellor in universities and as a trauma consultant with an EAP provider. | |
Dianne Summers Dianne is an educational and developmental psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents and families across all school sectors, after commencing her career as a primary/ secondary school teacher. Dianne joined Monash University as a lecturer and professional practice consultant in 2019 and is a Board approved supervisor and fellow of the APS College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. Away from Monash, she continues to supervise Ed & Dev graduates for the registrar program. |
