Tall Poppy Award for Turner researcher
Congratulations to Dr Laura Jobson who was the recipient of a Victorian Young Tall Poppy Science Award last month.
The Tall Poppy Science awards are awarded by the Australian Institute of Policy and Science, and recognise the achievements of Victorian researchers from a wide mix of scientific areas. The awards acknowledge the recipient’s research achievements alongside their capacity and commitment to communicate science and its significance to the broader community.
Laura’s research has challenged the assumption that PTSD can be treated in universal ways by studying how people from different cultures remember and make sense of trauma. From this research, she has developed culturally informed assessment tools and PTSD interventions.
