2016 Team of The Year: Highly Commended

SSON's Shared Services & Outsourcing Excellence Awards is a globally recognised, annual industry awards program which honours and celebrates shared services and service delivery teams who have exceeded industry standards in their Shared Services initiatives.

The Finance Portfolio's Research and Revenue Accounting Services team were recognised for developing and implementing a number of key initiatives which significantly improved their services, increased their communication and collaboration, and identified process and procedure changes.

The Finance Portfolio was awarded for our integrated capability improvement programs designed to support the delivery of a value add finance service to the University and build finance professionals of the future.


2015 BTTB Travel Management Awards

Travel Programme of the Year: Runner-up

The Travel Programme of the Year recognises organisation's that not only manages its travel effectively, but also raises the profile of travel management within the organisation. It is the only award of its type that is judged by buyers and open to all organisations giving the nominees unrivalled prestige  in  the market.

The Finance Portfolio was awarded for the implementation of a number of initiatives to increase the value of travel management to the organisation, including a new travel management system, changes to policy and process, and improvements in the way billing is managed.


17th Annual Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) Excellence Awards.

2014 Excellence in Improvement and Innovation: Winner

SSON is the largest and most established community of shared services and outsourcing professionals in the world. The awards attracted nominations from across Australasia, including nominations from Telstra and QBE.

The Finance Portfolio was awarded for the implementation of the Financial Services Enhancement (FSE) project. The project began in 2009, with a service framework implemented from 2010 to 2012, and system and process improvements continuing into 2014. The FSE project has reduced the cost of financial  services  to the University by 26 per cent; enabled a move to a local service team model; improved customer satisfaction; and increased our finance specialisation, control and management.


2014 ATEM/Campus Review Best Practice Awards in Tertiary Education Management

The Higher Ed Services Award for Excellence in Financial
Management: Winner

The ATEM/Campus Review Best Practice awards in tertiary education management seek to recognise best practice and celebrate not only the winners but all who seek to excel in their profession.

The Finance Portfolio was awarded the Higher Ed Services Award for Excellence in Financial Management for its work in reforming the University's budget methodology. These reforms included separating budgets into like activities; implementing Metis – IBM's TM1 budgeting and reporting tool;  and  introducing three year gross margin measures.


The Vice-Chancellor's Awards

Exceptional Performance by Professional Staff: Highly commended

The Monash Vice-Chancellor offers annual awards in recognition of the contributions of professional staff who exceed the normal requirements of their positions and demonstrate significant and sustained achievement in a number of areas.

The Finance portfolio was highly commended by the Vice-Chancellor for the implementation of the Financial Services Enhancement (FSE) project. The project contributed to the strategic aims of Monash University, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of finance processes and ensured the provision  of  a high-quality finance service for staff.


2013 ATEM/Campus Review Best Practice Awards in Tertiary Education Management

The Higher Ed Services Award for Excellence in Financial
Management: Highly commended

The ATEM/Campus Review Best Practice awards in tertiary education management seek to recognise best practice and celebrate not only the winners but all who seek to excel in their profession.

The ATEM/Campus review Judging panel noted: "The Financial Services Enhancement (FSE) team from Monash University provided a very good example of what can be achieved by a focused and committed team working together to improve the financial services they deliver.

The team has strongly focused on the requirements of the client while improving service management and delivery. It has been a large project undertaken in a complex and dynamic University environment delivering outcomes that have formed the basis for operational policy."


The Navitas Professional Year program.

Certificate of appreciation for: Outstanding contribution

The Navitas Professional Year Program is a professional development program combining formal learning and an Australian internship placement experience.

The Finance portfolio was awarded for its outstanding contribution to the program through a 12 week internship we offer in our Research and Revenue Accounting services area.

The internship provides students with a pathway from study to employment, enables them to put their accounting knowledge to use in a professional environment, and helps them gain additional skills through workplace experience. On completion of the program students receive a Certificate IV in Business.
