Major Injury

  1. Care for patient and call for help.
  2. Send someone to ring Ambulance Service: (0) 000.
  3. Provide the following:
    1. their name;
    2. nature of emergency;
    3. their age/gender;
    4. location (campus, building, level, room);
    5. state of consciousness;
    6. number and names of person involved;
    7. any other relevant information e.g. breathing, bleeding, chest pains, etc.
  4. Notify Security on 333 or 9905 3333 to escort ambulance.
  5. Ensure area is clear for medical personnel.
  6. Inform Manager/Supervisor if the injuured person is a student or visitor.
  7. Inform Safety Officer.

IMPORTANT: Complete Online Hazard and Incident Report via S.A.R.A.H.

Minor Injury

  1. Seek assistance from a local First Aider.
  2. Contact First Aid Officer within building for treatment.
    • First Aider lists are generaly posted on OH&S notice boards at the end of corridors or on First Aid kits.
  3. Inform Manager/Superviros.
  4. Send injured person to a local medical center or hospital emergency ward if required.
  5. Inform Safety Officer.

Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

AED locations can be obtained from Security on 333 or 9905 3333, or from the Monash OH&S website.
