About the exhibition
This ambitious exhibition of contemporary light works was presented in conjunction with the Fifth Australian Sculpture Triennial that also spanned public sites, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and other gallery venues across Melbourne. The exhibition investigated the use of light and light technologies as a sculptural, conceptual and perceptual device. It included a broad range of Australian and international artists working with light as material, medium and cultural  phenomenon, with works ranging from historical light environments and installations from the 1960s and ’70s to contemporary lightboxes and text works of the 1980s and ’90s.
