About the exhibition
This exhibition marked North American artist Gaylen Gerber’s first presentation in Australia and reflected his ongoing conceptual and material investigations aligned with concerns central to much international installation practice at the time. The visual and bodily experience of Gerber’s installation invited viewers to consider how we perceive and make sense of our environment, spanning both natural and human-made worlds.

Gerber’s project was the fourth in the Monash University Gallery’s Project Room series, presented in the Russell Drysdale Gallery. Like previous iterations, this exhibition emerged from a close collaboration between artist and curator and was representative of the artist’s current interests and evolving practice.
