About the exhibition
Curated by Malcolm Bywaters for the Faculty Gallery, Caulfield, and the Switchback Gallery, Gippsland, DIY: do it yourself introduced artists from four Melbourne artist-run initiatives to these campus communities. Artists associated with Indigo Studios (Monica Adams, Shaun Wilson), Platform Artists Group (Richard Holt, Andrew Seward), Urban Art Group (Maggie McCormick) and West Space (Brett Jones and Sarah Stubbs) contributed works in painting, photography and drawing indicative of the range of contemporary practice regularly exhibited in Melbourne’s ‘DIY’ art spaces.
