About the exhibition
The exhibition showcased thirty works by eight contemporary Taiwanese artists who came of age during the country’s rapid economic modernisation, in a post-industrial context where urbanisation, commercialisation and westernisation intersected. Working across diverse media, the artists explored a wide range of themes, including the construction of national identity, mass media and the growing consumer market.

The exhibition was the culmination of several years of curatorial research by Sophie McIntyre, conducted while living in Taiwan, including during a curatorial residency at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
