What does the mind conjure up when a garment is described in words rather than seen? Adele Varcoe’s performance work Imagining Chanel explores how fashion is experienced through language. Imagining Chanel mimics Chanel salon fashion shows from the 1920s together with physical descriptions of Chanel garments from the 1920s-1960s to focus attention on the role that imagination plays in fashion.
