MUMA will throw its doors open on Sunday 3 August to participate in Monash University Open Day 2014 with free, fun and family friendly activities. The Round the Way Bagel Van will be resident outside MUMA serving up hot and delicious fresh bagels. Visit Fiona Connor's exhibition Wallworks and then make your own creative response in the MUMA education spaces with reproductions of works from the Monash University Collection. Warm up, get fit and engage with art at the same time shooting some 'balls with Nicholas Selenitsch as part of his participatory event Training.

Nick Selenitsch: Training
Training is a one-day event presented by Nick Selenitsch and MUMA for Monash University Open Day 2014. For the event freestanding basketball rings will be installed in the Ian Potter Sculpture Court outside MUMA and visitors will be invited to play some 'ball'. Several basketballs will be provided and dispensed via a basketball holder/sculpture. The artist will be present, shooting hoops by himself or with anyone who wants to join him. Training continues Selenitsch's interest in the convergence between thinking and doing as well as the foundational role of play. The staging of this fun yet studious body-based activity is also a conscious reaction to the usual privileging of sombre thought-based endeavours at a university.
