Visiting French artist Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques will present a performative lecture incorporating an introduction to his practice, together with a 20-minute screening of a recent video work with the artist performing the sound live using a Eurorack synth. Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques was born in 1983, and lives and works in Paris. He graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Marseille, followed by the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles. His work has been featured at LE BAL in Paris, Fotofestival Mannheim, and La Galerie Particulière in both Paris and Brussels. In 2015 he was the recipient of the inaugural Immersion commission, given by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, in alliance with the Aperture Foundation. His first book, Eden, was published by Fondation d’entreprise Hermès and Aperture in 2016.

Couzinet-Jacques is artist in residence at MADA as the inaugural recipient of the French Residency in Australia, supported by the Embassy of France in Australia in partnership with MUMA.
