Visiting Australia on the occasion of his exhibition Serene Velocity in Practice: MC510/CS18 at MUMA, New Zealand artist Michael Stevenson gave a lecture as part of MADA’s Art Forum series about this major sculptural commission.

Michael Stevenson is a New Zealand artist who has been living and working in Berlin since 2000. Awarded the Künstlerhaus Bethanien residency in Berlin in 2002, he represented New Zealand at the fiftieth Venice Biennale in 2003 and was the Capp St. resident artist at the Wattis Institute CCA in San Francisco in 2006. Since 2011 he has held a Professorship at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg. With Will Holder, he produced the book Profiles in Serene Velocity—Book I: Cultural Dope to accompany his exhibition at MUMA, as the first in a series of future volumes.
