SOUND SPACES: Closed Beginnings

Thursday 26 March, 8–9pm
Live stream via Australian Orchestra Youtube channel

Co-presented with Australian Art Orchestra, the live stream concert Closed Beginnings featured multidisciplinary spoken word artist Tariro Mavondo and trumpeters / electronic artists Reuben Lewis and Peter Knight.

Sound Spaces is a performance series of experimental and improvised music that embraces the overlap between visual art and sound art.

MUMA's first Sound Spaces of 2020 was presented with the Australian Art Orchestra as a live-streamed event featuring  multidisciplinary spoken word artist Tariro Mavondo and trumpeters / electronic artists Reuben Lewis and Peter Knight.

Using acoustic instruments as source material for their electronic soundscapes, Knight and Lewis create minimalistic patterns of sounds and cycles. Projected over this beguiling sound tapestry, Mavondo's poetic words enchant and provoke.

Closed Beginnings
brought together the quietly powerful music of two of Australia’s great trumpeters / improvisers with the eloquent and thought-provoking verse of one of the young and diverse voices on the Melbourne scene.

Sound Spaces is a performance series of experimental and improvised music that embraces the overlap between visual art and sound art. Adjacent to MUMA’s exhibition program, series events are in occasional direct dialogue with particular exhibition projects.
