Cats ‘look’ at art with the full sensorial spectrum, using smell, sound, taste and touch to interpret art and the world around them — Candice Lin

Join Kovu (pictured) and MUMA curators Pip Wallis and Francis E. Parker for a unique art experience: a cat-led tour of Candice Lin: The Sex Life of Stone at Monash University Museum of Art | MUMA.

These cat-led exhibition tours are designed by the artist and MUMA to bring out the full sensorial experience of the exhibition for human visitors, attuning them to aspects of the work they may otherwise miss.

Human visitors can also expect their feline guide to act as an interlocutor with the spirit realm during the tour, using telepathy and mind-control messages via vibration (aka purring) to converse with the artist’s many otherworldly works. The curators will interpret and add to Kovu’s tour of the exhibition.

This program takes place in conjunction with the exhibition Candice Lin: The Sex Life of Stone at Monash University Museum of Art | MUMA, 29 June – 7 September 2024.

This is a free event but registration is required via the link above. Tickets are limited.

This program has been developed in accordance with Animal Welfare Victoria’s code of practice for the Welfare of Film Animals and after consultation from the RSPCA. A professional animal handler will accompany Kovu during the tours.
