Our Research In Conversation webinar series asks Monash leaders and researchers how COVID-19 is impacting research, what it means for the Monash research community and how we can all adapt.

  • Episode 1: Research stakeholder management during a crisis

Building and managing relationships with stakeholders is a core aspect of conducting research - doing this well can be challenging at the best of times but when the world is in the midst of a global pandemic it can be seriously challenging. For our first conversation we brought together research leaders for the discussion including:

Professor Cameron Simmons, Director of the Institute of Vector-Borne Disease and Director of the Oceania Hub of the World Mosquito Program.

Dr Brady Robards is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social Sciences, expert in how young people use and produce digital social media.

Associate Professor Gene Bawden is a communication designer and Head of Department of Design in MADA.

Associate Professor, Michelle Greenwood from the Department of Management and stakeholder management expert.

  • Episode 2: Supervising through COVID and beyond

Research supervision and guiding, inspiring and challenging PhD candidates to achieve their best is never easy. Doing so under the rapidly changing circumstances of COVID-19 is even harder - and can add unexpected pressures to both supervisors and candidates. Join our conversation with experienced PhD supervisors on how best to supervise through COVID and beyond, including:

Professor Nellie Georgiou-Karistianis is Deputy Dean, Academic and Graduate Affairs in the Monash School of Psychological SciencesAssociate

Professor Steven Roberts from the School of Social Sciences is an internationally recognised expert on young people’s transitions to adulthood.

Professor Sharon Ricardo is a Research Group Leader in the Monash Biomedical Discovery Institute.

You can watch the webinar live by registering below, or watch the recording any time from 1 June.
