About
The prestigious 25 Year Service Awards is a biennial event program that proudly recognises and rewards the long service of Monash staff and their outstanding contribution to the success of the University. Individual staff with an aggregate 25 years of service are honoured at an important ceremony where their dedication is acknowledged with a hand engraved silver medallion..
Medallists will include staff in teaching, research and administration who have become members of Monash University, after mergers with the former Chisholm Institute of Technology, and the Victorian College of Pharmacy.
Eligibility
All staff with recorded evidence of 25 years fixed term or tenured service in aggregate to 30 June 2025 are eligible for the award.
Medals will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria.
- Fixed term or tenured service with Monash and its antecedent organisations is included for recognition of length of service.
- Recognised prior service with external organisations is not counted in the calculation of service for the award.
- All unpaid leave is not recognised as service for this award.
- Sessional or casual service is not recognised and is therefore excluded.
25 Year Service Awards 2025
The next cycle of Service Awards will be presented to eligible staff at a special ceremony, to be held on Tuesday 25 March 2025 at the Alexander Theatre, Monash University, Clayton campus.
Eligible staff will be notified of their service award in writing by the Vice-Chancellor and invited to attend the official presentation ceremony.
At the ceremony, medals will be presented to staff who, effective 30 June 2025, will have contributed over 25 years of service to the University. Staff celebrating anniversaries in 2023 and 2024 will be joined by colleagues becoming eligible in the first half of 2025.
Following the ceremony, a list of 25 Year Award recipients will be published on the website, alongside a series of images from the celebration.
2025 FAQs
When will the next Service Awards be held?
The next Service Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday 25 March 2025. Staff eligible to receive medals at the ceremony will be notified towards the end of 2024.
Can I bring guests to the ceremony?
Each eligible staff member will be allocated limited guest tickets. A waitlist will operate for the allocation of any additional tickets. To register for the waitlist, staff are required to submit the request as part of the details and RSVP form or via the service awards email.
What will happen at the ceremony?
Staff Award recipients will receive detailed information about the ceremony prior to the event covering times, processes and important reminders. Upon arrival at the ceremony, staff will be asked to register and follow the instructions.
During the ceremony, staff recipients will be seated at the front of the theatre, separate from their guests. Following the academic procession, the ceremony will be opened with an official address. Staff recipients will then be called individually to receive their medal, before an additional address and the close of the ceremony.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony for staff and their guests.
What if I can't attend the Service Awards ceremony?
Staff unable to attend the Service Awards ceremony will be noted absentia. We will contact you in due course to make arrangements for you to receive your medallion closer to the ceremony.
