This symposium celebrates the 2017 China Australia Year of Tourism.

This inaugural symposium is the centrepiece of this project with the principal aim to draw closer links between the tourism sector, government (Federal, State and Local), industry groups, research community, and key opinion leaders that have an interest in Chinese tourism inside and outside Australia.
The development of a National Strategy for Regional Dispersal of Chinese Inbound Visitors will be a key outcome of this symposium.
Additionally, facilitating the establishment of the Australia China Tourism Observatory (ACTO) is an associated outcome aimed at developing a better understanding of the bilateral tourism exchange between Australia and China. This will facilitate peer to peer knowledge exchange that can help shape national, state and regional policy and planning.
Membership is limited to research organisations, government and the tourism sector. In particular, it will serve as a vital think-tank for Chinese organisations looking to develop tourism interests in Australia, as well as Australia-based organisations looking to optimise Chinese inbound tourism.
