Healthy life, Third age and Sustainability

Concept Image

Our project was constructed with 3 main points in mind. The first is to assist our clients in having a healthier lifestyle. This leads to our next aim which is catering for the third age. And lastly connectivity to the environment.

We have provided activities that can promote a healthier way of living, for example, exercising (through potentially biking or walking in a safe and suitable environment) creating opportunities for social connections and even a healthier diet (in which one can acquire fresh produce).

Garden on the site

The project caters for a generation older than the one we are also catering for, with ease of accessibility across the whole site. Furthermore, we have incorporated mean areas of vegetation to bring not only a sense of life but also connectivity towards to wider context as we have utilised native plants. Gardens on the site have a variety of things, such as a pond, hill, vegetable house, seating areas, stores and more. Such things are designed for both the public and for residents, aiming for better connectivity and health in the long run.

Zoomed out site plan

There are two residents on the site. First is the longevity residents who are under 50 years old, living alone, and want to have a third place for their third age. Second is the multi-generational residents who are also under 50 years old. They are a family with/without kids living with their elderly, and they appreciate a safe and supportive community that can enrich both their carrier and family life quality. Our project has explored how these two groups of people can live together with natural interactions on the site to bring benefits to both of them.

Plan drawing, Second floor

To fulfil the goal and our concept, we have disbursed our residents from the centre to the edge, a gradation of multi-generation to longevity. There are greenhouses with vegetables across the site, both for the residents and the visitors, creating an interaction spot on the site. We also designed a bike lane that runs across the area, creating a nice circulation flow and connection, despite the road and station that splits the site physically in 3.

The public areas are designed with the intent of creating a natural Space . As previously mentioned the sky Garden, features organic vegetables in the glass room and has sit down brunch cafe, in which all the food comes from the planting of the sky garden so as to realize the healthiest lifestyle. The residential Spaces are connected by a park, which forms a new "ground floor".
