ArchiMods is a housing solution to resolve the lack of contractors in regional areas. Using a simplified SIP wall system, allows clients to construct their own homes in a short period, so they do not have to wait for contractors to build their homes. With the ability to fit the disaster stage house in a standard truck, anyone with a Victorian license can drive, whilst providing clients with the opportunity to pick the pre-packaged truck from the warehouse and construct it as they wish. If clients require assistance there is the option to have two professionals construct the home for them.

Stage Views

The project explores a transition from a temporary disaster relief stage to a permanent home for those who are affected by disaster experiences. The views illustrate this transition, depicting the change of their homes from a single kitchen/studio to a two-bedroom house with a study, bathroom, and kitchen.

Stage Plans

Using a SIP panel system provides the opportunity to easily expand the house, using a specifically designed cam-lock system that enables the everyday person to assemble the homes. Using a modular internal system provides clients with the opportunity to design the internal layout of their home as it progressively grows from a disaster stage house to a permanent home.

Stage Perspective Sections

For the community relations aspect of the project, it is intended that this housing solution be used in regional areas and that through disaster related experience a community will grow to become resilient. Thus, the project has a system where neighbours can help each other construct these homes.

Disaster Stage Exploded Axonometric

Throughout the semester the project has changed and evolved into a simplistic system that can be expanded over time. I meticulously worked on ensuring that the system used, and the components required were simple enough that most people would be able to construct these houses if they choose to.
