The first few years of a young persons menstrual cycle are some of the most crucial, however, these years are meet with embarrassment and shame. The 'TM' is a wearable pain relief tool targeted at reducing period pain as well as tackling the epidemic of menstrual shame amongst young people. The device features an avatar that exhibits the emotions felt during a cycle, aiming to reduce loneliness and shame. With customisable cases and stickers to accessorise with, the ’TM’ hopes to engage with a younger audience and encourage them to speak openly about their menstrual cycle and reach out for support when needed.

TM - Tens Machine

The 'TM' is a wearable pain relief tool targeted at reducing period pain as well as tackling the epidemic of menstrual shame amongst young people. The device sends small electrical impulses to the targeted muscles and interferes with the menstrual pain signals beings sent to the brain. The 'TM' is smaller than a phone with slim customisable cases that slid onto the face of the body. The screen exhibits an avatar that changes throughout the day to represent the wide array of cycle emotions.
With a metallic body and pixelated digital screen, the design is inspired by 2000's fashion and toy designs. The in context image is inspired by paparazzi to again reference the chosen design era.

Close up Render

This is a close up render of the 'TM' featuring a sleepy avatar, information for when the user is due for their next period and some words of encouragement and support.

Customisable Cases Render

The device is smaller than a phone with slim customisable cases that slid onto the face of the body. This provides users with some creative flexibility. Something that is uncommon amongst existent Tens Machines.

TM Packaging

The 'TM' comes in an A5 box with charging cords, sticky pads, the variety of cases as well as the manual and stickers.

Customisable Cases GIF

The 'TM' can be easily customised to the user desires with the three colour ways available. The colours were based off neo cyber designs and graphics.
