BLOSSOM goes beyond the four walls of the classroom.

The concept works to engage children in active learning practices, to teach them about relationships with the natural environment. The concept fosters a child’s natural ability to explore both Australian and international stories through their construction and growth, as they continue to build guided-stories in regenerating hessian wrapped pods.

As the hessian breaks down, the constructed frame remains; providing children with the opportunity to create and learn a new range of stories as each season passes. Composed of native plants (shoots and seedlings), the structure visually becomes part of its environment.

Children create stories with flowers, engaging their multisensory learning.

Like the environment, the design continues to change and regenerate over time.

Evolution of form throughout the concept development and refinement.

Blossom’s materiality of the stories encourages physical engagement and touch.

Enclosed pods allow children to be completely surrounded by floral stories.
