Dog-Human Hair Salon: Street View

A reimagination of the salon to become a dog-friendly, inclusive community hub. Set in an outer Western Sydney parkland site, which was once housing removed for the additional airport runway. The concept of fragment vs whole carries through the project, reflecting the fragmented history of the site, amongst many site inspirations. The dog-human salon respects the current recreational and dog use of Sydenham Green park, whilst creating an inclusive space that reactivates the park.

Dog-Human Hair Salon: Ground Floor Plan

The dog-human salon respects the current recreational and dog use of Sydenham Green park, whilst creating an inclusive space that reactivates the park.
The plan prioritises double frontage for the commercial spaces, central vertical circulation that promotes cross-floor interactions, and a facade that directs occupants into the salon space and central circulation.

Dog-Human Hair Salon: Edge Section

The 'fragmented' glass and clay brick edges are in juxtaposition to the glazed brick 'whole' elements. The dog-scale mobile washing stations become part of the architecture, inviting occupants inside.

Airey's Inlet Older Women's Housing: Model

This project is a mix of social and affordable housing in Airey's Inlet targeted towards single female parents and older women. The site response prioritises community engagement, relationship to the landscape and privacy. The concept for the units surrounds the use of polycarbonate and how it can create varying levels of private spaces that can interact with the landscape and provide a connection to nature for the occupants, especially for those that may not be able to leave their home often.
