Enjoy the Little Things
This master plan and unit design concept focuses on rejuvinating the natural Colac landscape, using design language and planning to restore the previous ecology of the site. The langauge used in the unit design connects both the industrial infrastructure found on site with the organic materiality of the Colac natural context. Each housing lot has been carefully placed to ensure each dweller is connected intimately back to the land. The colour of the materials help blend the units into the landscape, bringing forward the ecology into the spotlight and recreating a connection to Country.
In the spirit of reconciliation Monash University acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
