Hi there, I’m Emily.

I'm a product designer dedicated to simplifying complex concepts and making them more accessible, and more human. With a double degree in Communication design and I.T, I’m an empathetic designer that combines a technical background with the design skills to create visually pleasing, human-centred, and accessible design. I enjoy the challenge of trying understanding how users think and incorporating their potential thoughts and actions into my decision making when designing. Analysing and considering how certain design decisions could influence how someone might feel or act has created this desire to consistently have purposeful intentions behind my work.

Pocket Change

Pocket Change is an app that was derived from the growing housing crisis that is impacting young Australians. With rising costs of living, almost three-quarters of young Australians believe they will never be able to purchase a home and there’s a trend of intergenerational inequality that ties into the growing gap between the haves and have nots.

To address the financial strain felt by rental tenants, Pocket Change and it's promotional material, becomes a resource that helps users manage their budgets and finances accordingly, helps set financial goals and provide insights into their progress, and provides an accumulation of cost saving benefits that they're eligible for.

Pocket Change Mobile App

This app demonstrates a user flow from onboarding, to creating an account, registering their budget, goals, and rental details.

The purpose of incorporating an illustrative style and bright colours despite being a serious topic is intended to make the app more approachable and less intimidating, especially for users who might dread looking at their finances or feel overwhelmed by numbers.
