A common experience amongst young migrants, displacement can influence an individual's personal identity and wellbeing. Tillhöra is a rug that translates photographs into sensory experiences to help displaced youth establish a sense of belonging in their new home.
Integrating artificial intelligence, social media and sensory qualities, the rug is designed to help youth settle into unfamiliar places. The embedded AI of the app interprets photographs and instructs the rug to emit sound, vibrations and light that emulate the photograph's atmosphere. This allows the user to transcend the barrier of place and experience a feeling of ‘home’.
