As a designer, I like to incorporate all aspects of people's needs into the design, paying attention to the perfect combination of details and functions. My last project in my third year was "Future Residence". The future demand for energy, water, food and other resources is increasing, and the scarcity of the Earth's resources makes this urgency all the more acute. It is designed for future teams of astronauts and scientists to provide a sustainable solution for the future. The project is focused on creating a habitable environment that can sustain itself independently in this extreme Martian environment.

Future Residence

"Future Residence" is the future Mars habitat building, which aims to provide a safe, stable, efficient and self-sufficient living and working environment for future Mars residents.

Internal function diagram of Future Residence

The "Future Residence" has seven active floors inside, six of which are above ground and one below ground. The overall functions include planting, production, research, recreation, energy harvesting, water storage, and relaxation. It is a complete and self-sustaining living environment.

Future Residence top growing area

The planting area uses a combination of soil culture and hydroponics to increase the variety of crops grown and provide a richer source of food for the habitat. When the surface of the dome reaches a certain temperature, the Liquid metal layer inside the light transmission layer melts, changing the level of light on the top layer and providing light to the plants.

In the extreme environment of Mars, people's mental health also needs to be taken into account. The Accommodation floor is distributed into two concentric circles, the outer circle is divided into 14 individual rest blocks, and the inner circle is arranged as a place for communication and relaxation.

Future Residence energy and production areas

Each floor is linked by a circular staircase suited to the Martian microgravity and an elevator, enabling efficient transportation of energy, goods and people. Printing technology is used for production, and another area stores habitat energy.
