I'm Yaqi Dong, a designer dedicated to creating impactful spatial experiences. In my opinion, space design is not only a process of architecture and space, but also an art that integrates people, animals and nature. I want to use design to connect people, animals and nature to create a better, sustainable future.
As my final project, I want to integrate virtual technology and real ecology in the future, reconnect people with nature, and solve the problems of people's mental health and loneliness in confined Spaces.

Ecological interaction at home

In the future, there may be extreme weather, environmental degradation, rising ecological pressure, leading to the extinction of animals, limited go out for people, and an increase in psychological problems. More tall buildings, less outdoor activity space.

In the face of these challenges in the future, how can people interact more with animals and plants in the limited indoor space and solve the problem that people will be lonely at home?

Hypothesis

The audience is family.
Create a Interior vertical garden - a real vertical planted wall. People can water, fertilize, or change the position of plants in a vertical garden by virtual animals onto wall through a 3d holographic projection. Virtual animals can live here, and they can show the corresponding interaction through people's behavior. Family members interact with virtual animals in a full-body immersive simulation.

3D Virtual animal

People can choose and buy their favorite virtual animals in the online store, and the animals can be displayed on the real indoor vertical garden through 3d holographic projection equipment.

Play 1

1. When people water in a vertical garden, virtual animals may become interested in water droplets, they will jump, they will dance under the rain, watering will help the plant grow, and virtual animals may express thanks with joyful movements.
2. When fertilizing plants, animals may become interested in the smell of fertilizer, and animals that do not like the smell of fertilizer will temporarily disappear. Those who like the smell of fertilizer will show the action of eating, mimicking the plant absorbing nutrients.

Play 2

3. If the location of the plant is moved, the animal may follow the plant to adapt to the new environment.
4. Virtual animals can communicate directly with people through voice recognition technology.
The reactions of the virtual animals can make people feel that they are actually present in the vertical garden, and can also play a role in encouraging people to participate in the vertical garden maintenance, making the interaction more natural and immersive.

Design concept

In the face of future challenges of bad weather and limited space, "Family ecological interaction" combines virtual technology with real ecology, and combines indoor vertical garden planting and 3D holographic projection technology to create a fun and interactive environment for family members, so that people can interact with nature indoors. While addressing mental health and loneliness in a confined space. The whole project conveys a mood of freedom, interaction, harmony and cheerful.
