My practice delves into embracing and over-indulging in stereotypical femininity, specifically the colour pink. For all gender identities, expressing oneself in a hyper-feminine way has been demeaned in our society. I hope to start to heal this internalised misogyny by embracing stereotypical feminine characteristics to challenge society's gender norms, showing that anyone can wear the colour pink and be respected, intelligent, and powerful. I believe femininity should be celebrated and nobody should feel shame for expressing themselves.

Pink's Not a Colour, It's a Lifestyle

This installation features found objects including hats, clothes, bags and accessories all encapsulating hyper-femininity with the objects showcasing a range of the colour pink. There are also hand-made elements to the installation with the large box constructed from cardboard and pink wrapping paper. The three mixed-media wall works feature materials such as photographs, glitter, lipstick, plastic gemstones, washi tape, pins and Barbie dolls sewn onto painted canvases.
