AGENCY TO UPSCALE UPCYCLING - My work as an undergraduate engineer on the Ringwood East Level Crossing Removal Project and am exposed to commercial scale wastage on a daily basis, most of which ends up in land fill. We are living through an era where the cost of construction has inflated dramatically and the need to reduce our carbon footprint is becoming dire, utilising existing material through design and upcycling can begin to alleviate these issues. This project focuses on creating residential housing by analysing the 'affordances' of each object from the old Ringwood East Station and then manipulating and arranging these objects/materials into a liveable space.
