Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

I am a third-year Bachelor of Architectural Design Student. I'm hardworking, creative and driven in my studies and work. I have a strong attention to detail and a desire to grow in this field. I'm looking forward to entering the architectural workforce this year.

Twisting Melbourne Back Together

This render explores the full form of my project. Where I designed with attention to sun paths, historical context and location demographic. These buildings have public ground floors and all above are student accommodations to help with the growing mass of education buildings and lack of accommodation. Each floor of these buildings is twisting by 15 degrees to allow natural sunlight access and views for residents from all angles. The facades are inspired by Melbourne architecture with respect to materiality with the use of bluestone, limestone and sandstone.

Outdoor Public Space

To foster a community on this site I have designed a tiered public seating structure that looks onto a tall existing building with no west-facing windows. Allowing me to use it is a wall to project movies on in summer as an outdoor cinema space open to the public.

To respect the original curve of the site I have created a green space that is not very common in this surrounding area of Melbourne.

Ground Plan

This ground plan highlights all the public uses of the area below the student accommodation. By bridging the apartments and businesses together it allows for interior and exterior circulation and makes the site feel more united architecturally. I have kept the original laneways to have multiple access points to the site. I have also flattened the site to assist with accessibility.
