The design studio “Together apart” examines how modern methods of construction (MMC) can improve the quality and delivery of social housing within NSW at a medium scale density. Based on case study research and site visits students developed their own social housing response, adopting a MMC approach and developing a kit of parts. In relation to MMC, this project explored the use of prefabricated façade modules, precast concrete and timber structure. The dwellings within the housing development were designed to have a strong connection to the outdoors whether it is through a balcony, terrace or private garden.
