I design with relationality of people at the core of my practice. I want to enhance the relationality people have with each other and objects they interact with through design process that reflects a uniquely human experience, a deeply inquisitive, explorative, explosive and individual one. My practice is firmly grounded in ideas of sustainability, both through design and making processes. I am a maker, I want to continue developing a practice that is hands on, concerned with materiality, fabrication and developing of new ways to understand existing, new interactions and objects. My practice, like Goose Cargo Systems is invigorated and energetic and seeks to contribute to sustainable futures

Up-Goose

For the riders, by the riders. ‘Up-Goose’ by Goose Cargo Systems seeks to harness sustainable design and making processes to produce cutting edge, functional, simple and beautiful bikepacking cargo product. A system that simplifies adventures and strengthens connection between riding community, practice and product. Be a goose, have an adventure, we’ll do the rest.

WALK THE WALK, OR WADDLE THE WADDLE?

Goose Cargo Systems (GCS) exists as a disruptor in a cycling space defined by sustainable human mobility, yet a space also defined by consumption practices that do not always align with this image. GCS’s ‘Up-Goose’ and brand development is firmly grounded in the ambition to sustainably enhance everyone's bikepacking and cycling journeys through meaningful, beautiful product that is inherently good. More than this, GCS is a community, a force for good, a powerful tool to understand and alter our consumption choices. It is not enough to just talk the talk, we need to waddle the waddle.

HARDWARE THAT TALKS

‘Up-Goose’ pannier rack hardware unifies typically separate bag and rack cargo attachment components. Plug style compression fitting enables secure integration with pannier rack steel tubing and utilises a snug snap fit to securely hold onto the tubing slid inside the ‘Up-Goose’ pannier bag sleeve backings. Such integration inspires confidence and enables the rider to focus on what really matters, the adventure.

INTERSECTING MATERIALITY AND FORM

‘Up-Goose as a total carrying system, presents a unique intersection of a industrial steel tubing rack, flexible compression TPU rack hardware and soft flowing PVC canvas bag materials. This divide between elements is bridged through flowing forms of the Up-Goose rack and paired bags, which invoke a sense of movement, flight, and unity between elements.

TOTAL SYSTEM

Integration of cargo rack, bags and bicycle champions a total system approach to bicycle cargo attachments. It is one that focusses on sustainable materiality through upcycling PVC canvas into bags, repairability of stainless steel tubing rack and functional simplicity found in the relationship between hardware components. This furthers the narrative of what it is to bikepack and move sustainably

PATTERN SHARING, COMMUNITY, BIKEPACKING

Further capturing the essence of what it is to ‘Up-Goose’ and cycle more sustainably, Goose Cargo Systems contributes to a collective knowledge of sustainable cycling practice through the sharing of opensource bag patterns, enabling greater access, sustainable consumption choices, absolute tailored customisation and building a thriving community that champions human powered, sustainable mobility.
