Hi! My name is Phong Huynh, and I am a Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design student. I believe there is beauty in simple, efficient design.

The EZ Trolley is an electric shopping trolley created specifically for wheelchair users in supermarkets. My design aims to provide a more independent and accessible shopping experience by connecting seamlessly to various wheelchairs.

Equipped with a smart screen hub, the EZ Trolley enables users to locate items, check out directly, and request assistance if needed. For added safety, the trolley features sensors that scan blind spots and can stop immediately when necessary.

EZ Electric Trolley final design

The final EZ Electric Trolley design showcases a green color inspired by Woolworths supermarkets. The basket is constructed from recycled polyethylene material and includes a thin light strip at the front for added visibility. The battery charging station is optimized for wheelchair users, allowing for easy battery replacement.

Where the idea started from

The idea began when I noticed elderly people in wheelchairs struggling to store their shopping items. They lacked a secure and convenient storage solution.

Smart and safety features

The screen hub includes a barcode scanner, allowing users to independently check out items. It also features a find item option, showing the location of searched items. If an item is hard to reach or assistance is needed, the user can easily request help from staff. Finally, with 360° sensors, the shopping experience is made much safer.
