Golden Petal Childcare is a proposed early learning centre located beside the historic Refractory Ward, soon to become part of Sunbury’s Arts and Culture Precinct. Inspired by the site’s abundant golden petal flowers and organised around a mature existing tree, the design strengthens children’s connection to nature. The centre responds to a local need for childcare and is positioned close to nearby schools and future arts workplaces, creating a safe, nurturing environment that supports families and contributes to the precinct’s evolving community identity.

The structure is raised on screw piles to minimise the impact on the site. The large, existing mature cypress tree is retained and celebrated as the focal point of the design.
