This work explores how architecture can operate in states of flux, using structures that shift between everyday civic use and event-driven intensity. It focuses on adaptable, layered frameworks that choreograph movement, culture, and public life within environments shaped by speed, spectacle, and constant change.
FIXED IN MOTION
This project addresses Albert Park’s dual identity as an everyday civic landscape and a fenced event precinct during the F1 Grand Prix. Instead of treating these states as opposites, it reworks temporary F1 infrastructure - scaffolding, grandstands, and lightweight skins - into a permanent network of adaptable civic buildings. These structures function year-round as libraries, study spaces, arts studios, and community rooms, but shift into media suites, hospitality pods, and exhibition platforms during the race. Embedding public programs within forms traditionally associated with spectacle challenges the park’s sport-dominant character and introduces flexible cultural infrastructure.
