Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2025

As the climate crisis intensifies, the Earth’s surface gradually becomes less suitable for human survival.
UNKNOWN is a speculative underground city that uses terraced spatial systems to create interconnected residential zones.
This design not only focuses on survival underground but also integrates play as a fundamental aspect of future living.
It combines slides with the stairs to let people go up and down, turning walls into rock-climbing surfaces and adding flying foxes and zip-lines to make people feel challenged to go to different levels. People can also jump into the water from the zip-line to experience moments of vertigo.
