Obesity and Metabolic Medicine

Associate Professor Priya Sumithran is an endocrinologist and researcher. She is clinical lead of Obesity Medicine at the Alfred and leads the Obesity and Metabolic Medicine group at the School of Translational Medicine, Monash University. Her clinical work focuses on the care of people with obesity, and her research interests are in the neuroendocrine regulation of appetite and eating behaviours, and the clinical application of medications and surgery for obesity and associated diseases. She has received several awards for research, has published her work in leading international journals and previously served on the council of the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society.
