They are also amongst the most common and widespread problems that patients have. As frontline health professionals, pharmacists are perfectly placed to help. Not only do they work with patients to recommend strategies to minimise pain, they also advise on avoiding side effects.

Meanwhile, our researchers are investigating new strategies for diagnosis and therapy for chronic pain and inflammation. They are working to understand the mechanisms that control the signalling that alerts us to inflammation, and determine whether defects in these mechanisms can cause disease. They are also developing new ways to treat pain.
