Become a Medicines Superhero

The stories behind the spandex

Why Medicines Superheroes?

The “Medicines” bit

At Monash Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, medicines are what we do. We offer two courses, and both of them turn you into a medicines expert.

Pharmacy is for students who want to practice as pharmacists. Pharmacists work in healthcare teams to ensure patients have the best care and gain most benefit from their medicines.

Pharmaceutical science equips you to advance the science of medicines. Pharmaceutical scientists design new medicines, and make existing medicines work even better.

The “superheroes” bit

Superheroes have two characteristics: they save people’s lives (that’s the “hero” bit) and they are exceptional (that’s the “super” bit. Otherwise they’re mediocreheroes)

Our graduates tick both of those boxes. Pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists save lives: that’s indisputable.

The “exceptional” bit is a bit harder to substantiate but we tend to do quite well in the international university rankings. In fact, in 2017, we were ranked Number 2 worldwide in Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The serious stories behind the cartoons

This site is the place to find out all about the work our researchers and graduates do improving healthcare. Some of our undergraduate students get directly involved in aspects of our research. All of them benefit from the fact that the faculty is a research leader. Being at the forefront means that we can see the future, and that we can shape what and how we teach to prepare our graduates to succeed in that future.

These six superheroes encapsulate some of the skills and knowledge that we equip our students with so they can improve the health of communities across the world.

We hope you’ll consider joining us and becoming a Medicines Superhero too.
