Skin Immunology

Welcome to the Braun Group

My group aims to understand how immune cells in the skin contribute to beneficial steady state immune surveillance or trigger detrimental skin pathology. In particular, we are interested in antigen recognition by CD8+ skin-resident memory T cells.

We're part of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and a member of the Immunity Program and Infection Program,
and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Our research

The skin is an effective physical barrier between our body and the environment. Cytotoxic T cells located in the skin are on the frontline of immune defences, contributing to pathogen clearance and tumour control. Our group uses immunopeptidomics, proteomics, T cell receptor sequencing, functional T cell studies and spatial transcriptomics approaches to understand beneficial and harmful T cell responses in the skin.
