Welcome to the Smyth Lab at Monash University!

We are a multidisciplinary team investigating how the immune system communicates with the brain at its borders - particularly within the meninges and skull bone marrow. Our work spans cellular neuroscience, immunology, barrier biology, and advanced imaging, with the goal of understanding how the brain borders shape immune privilege and contribute to neurological health and disease.

In our group, we value curiosity, rigor, inclusivity, and collaboration.
