Welcome to the Nutrient Metabolism and Signalling laboratory! We study how nutrients affect the body to keep us healthy and how this goes awry in disease.
Whether you want to research, invest, donate or partner with us to accelerate our life-changing discoveries, we'd be delighted to hear from you. We have opportunities for PhD students, post docs and senior researchers to join our lab. Feel free to contact Associate Professor Rose with any queries.
Clinical partners
We currently collaborate with an international team of clinical investigators such a Prof. Bente Kiens in Copenhagen, Demark on nutrition and metabolism, and Prof. Dr. Mathias Blueher in Leipsig, Germany on obesity and liver disease.
Our Lab ‘after hours’
We enjoy getting together on special occasions for a lab lunch or dinner to highlight a particular achievement or yearly event. This usually involves an activity followed by good food and drinks.
Donate to our lab
Supporting our work may help us to provide new treatments for obesity related conditions such as diabetes and heart disease as well as uncover which diet you should eat when to stay healthy. Such research is critical for breakthroughs and your support is most welcome!
Selected funding groups
We gratefully acknowledge the funding given to our lab by the National Health and Medical Research Council, Diabetes Australia, The Weary Dunlop Medical Research Foundation, The Endocrine Society of Australia, and The Australian Physiological Society as well as intra-mural support from Monash University.
Teaching activities
Associate Professor Rose gives two lectures annually on metabolic signalling and cancer for BCH3042 (Cell signal transduction: Role in cancer and human disease) and is co-convener and lecturer for the Masters course BMS5015 (Appetite, Energy Homeostasis and Obesity).
