Dr Dong Xu

Dr Dong Xu is the Chief Expert of CCUS at National Energy Group, Director of the Carbon Neutrality Center at the National Energy Group's New Energy Technology Research Institute, and concurrently serves as the Director of the Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory of Functional Materials for Power Generation Systems, a member of the Expert Committee of the APEC Sustainable Energy Center, an observer on the Advisory Board of the United Nations Climate Technology Centre and Network, and a member of the Chinese expert group for the Sino-European Flagship Program on Climate Change and Biodiversity under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
His main research areas include the full-chain technology development and demonstration promotion of carbon neutrality, carbon capture, utilization, and storage.
In 2019, he worked at the headquarters of the International Energy Agency (IEA) in the CCUS Working Group for one year, leading several national, provincial, and corporate-level key R&D projects as the project manager; he spearheaded the establishment of a comprehensive CCUS innovation R&D platform integrating simulation modeling, physicochemical analysis, and key technology and equipment testing and evaluation, and played a core role in the 150,000-ton-per-year carbon capture demonstration project at the Jinjie Power Plant. As the chief technical officer, he led the team that built the TaiZhou Power Plant project, the largest-scale carbon capture demonstration in Asia with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons. As the lead organizer, he applied for over ten national and industry standards in the CCUS field, filed over 50 invention patents, and published more than 40 high-level academic papers.
