Manufacturing

Traditional early-adopters of robotics, large-scale manufacturers have used automation to improve efficiency and release workers from dull, repetitive, dirty and dangerous tasks. However, robots operating in manufacturing environments require precise design and careful regulation and control, making automation expensive with large capital investments required up front.
New, more agile and intuitive robots with the capacity for perception, learning and intuitive operation, open up possibilities for small to medium enterprise manufacturers to take advantage of increased automation, without the large-scale costs. Our research will pioneer new robotics technologies that offer more equitable access to the benefits of automation.
