Give Respect Art Competition

The Give Respect Initiative

Monash established the Give Respect Initiative following the release of the 2017 Change the Course Report (pdf, 17.3 mb) by the Australian Human Rights Commission. Give Respect was a multi-disciplinary research project undertaken by academics in law, general practice Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (MNHS), social work MNHS, and marketing – along with students.

The aim of the Initiative was to increase awareness, co-create training resources with students, and promote respectful behaviours at Monash University and throughout the wider community.

As part of an ongoing commitment to create a respectful, safe and equal community, Respectful Communities and the Give Respect Initiative have developed the Give Respect Art Competition.

About the competition

We can create a more respectful community together – this is your opportunity to contribute towards building a more respectful and equitable Monash community with your artwork.

Get involved in our annual Give Respect Art Prize, a creative community collaboration between the Give Respect Initiative and Respectful Communities. You can submit your artwork between April and August, and share your unique and creative perspective with us.

Our Give Respect Art Exhibition includes artwork from student and staff winners from past competitions. Have a look below!

2021 exhibition catalogue

The Give Respect Art Competition normally hosts an annual exhibition of submissions, but we had to cancel our 2021 exhibition due to Government COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, we’ve created a 2021 exhibition catalogue (pdf, 60.42 mb) where you can view all of the wonderful artwork submitted.
